Enjoy drinks and refreshments after a Grasmere fell walk

If your family shies away from extravagant holidays abroad, or if you’re interested in seeing what the UK has to offer for holiday fun closer to home, why not give some Lake District walks a try? The village of Grasmere is an excellent place to start, with places to whet both your walking and food-based appetite!

Give Grasmere a try

The village boasts several impressive walks centering around Grasmere Lake, including one route infamously favoured by William Wordsworth, who lived in the area for 14 years of his life. The trails range significantly in length, difficulty and sights, including everything from lake-side strolls to fell-top panoramas. There are at least nine different marked routes one can take in the surrounding area, and you can combine some routes where they overlap. Whether you are a young family or a lone walker, there’ll always be something interesting for you to see and do in this picturesque part of the world.

Now for the fun part - food and drink!

Thankfully, each route is never far from some lovely local places to eat, meaning you can couple breathtaking scenery with a range of local cuisine. Within the village itself, there is a range of Grasmere tea rooms, cafes and restaurants guaranteed to offer something to your taste, as well as encourage you to try something new. The village also houses several typical English-looking pubs near Grasmere where you can find both lovely refreshment and a peaceful setting to pause on your trail.

Grasmere Village offers an idyllic setting for you to stop off and enjoy a refreshment as you take on one of its many walking routes.
