Thorney How is open all year round and we’re very happy to serve you whatever the weather.

If you’re just passing through on route to Patterdale or just popping up to Easedale Tarn or Helm Crag why not also try us for a drink and snack stop*.

Hot drinks and snacks available from 3.30pm onwards, our Panini menu is available from 3.30pm until 9pm and a licensed bar available until 11pm. Our coffee is supplied by Carvetii. There’s nothing better than a great cup of fresh coffee.

Happy Hour is 15% off draught ales, wine by the glass, local spirits and hot drinks 6-7pm every night.

Evening meals from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, non residents welcome.* Friday night’s are Pizza night!

TO SET YOU UP FOR THE DAY

We have a full breakfast menu from simple cereals, juice, toast and jam to a regular full English. Order when you book or the night before and it will be cooked for you at a prearranged time.

Pricing is from £6.50 to £10.00 including tea and coffee. Or try our special big feast breakfast for £14.00.

Breakfast is available from 7.30am to 9am and should be booked by 10pm on the preceding evening.

Please note: main house rooms sold B&B all include a complimentary basic breakfast of cereal, juice, toast, tea or coffee as standard. Upgrade rates to a cooked breakfast are available from £3.00

For under 10’s we offer a discount on the full price with a smaller plate.

AN EVENING MEAL TO SATISFY

Our in-house chefs have been keeping our guests very happy with our regular and popular staples; for example steak and ale pie, Cumberland sausage, onion gravy and sticky toffee pudding to name a few. We understand that those taking part in outdoor activities often have healthy appetites. At quieter times our menu may be restricted to just one or two items. At weekends and other busy periods we have the flexibility to offer a wider choice menu. As always if there is something you would like, please just ask.

PACKED LUNCHES

Freshly prepared sandwiches with a filling of your choice, juice drink, home made flapjack or cereal bar, packet of crisps and fresh fruit. Please order the day before £6.75

SELF CATERING

Self catering for individuals and small groups is also an option. Please also ask about pre-prepared our home cooked meal service available. Our regular chef Stephen can put his culinary talents at your service. Cooked by yourself at your own convenience simply pop in a microwave and add your own personal touches to make a fabulous meal for one, two or more.

GROUPS

For groups (10 people or more) we can of course offer a menu tailored just for you. Please give us a call to discuss. (For larger groups 17+ we prefer to discuss menu options as part of an all in price.)

PIZZA NIGHTS

Friday night is Pizza Night! Available from 6.30pm through to 8pm. Pricing from £8.00 to £12.00 for a 10” stone baked pizza.

All our pizzas are hand made and hand baked using the very best locally sourced ingredients.

Friday nights can pose problems for travellers with traffic delays. If you are unsure of your arrival time and wish to order food in advance please do call ahead. For all larger groups we will require pre-booking for food.

FAIRTRADE

We use Fairtrade products including tea and coffee wherever is possible.

All food is freshly prepared and locally sourced. Of course we always carry vegetarian options across all our menus and we will always try and meet all your dietary needs.

CATERING FOR EVENTS

Thorney How is fully licensed for entertainment including film screenings and the sale of alcohol. Over the last couple of years Thorney How has grown it’s reputation for quality food, prepared buy our own chefs with fresh local ingredients.

Please be aware that whilst Stag / Hen nights have occasionally been known to happen at Thorney How we do not encourage these types of events. Thorney How is in a rural location and not very suitable as a boozy retreat. Taxi services to distant night life will be costly and hard to book.
